When Kiehls India asked me to host an afternoon for them at their Bangalore store in Phoenix Marketcity , the decision was a no-brainer! Kiehl’s reputation precedes it and the quality of their products is famously impeccable. What followed was an afternoon of polaroid pictures, skin consultations, delicious hors d’oeuvres and lots of catching up with all the blogger babes & lovely ladies who joined me at the store! Everyone who attended got a skincare consultation as well as Kiehls product samples to take home with them so that they could try the products before making a purchase. (more…)
Idle afternoons in the pool. Water fights on my cousins’ terrace. And lazy days spent at home, letting lethargy get the best of us, school and homework a distant memory. Summer truly is a wonderful time!
Unfortunately for us, summer vacation from work is not too popular a concept amongst employers in general. Trifle afternoons have now been replaced by work and meetings and we’re expected to be as productive in this stifling heat (it’s quite absurd if you ask me) Luckily for me (and all other fashion lovers) we have summer fashion to drown our sorrows in. It’s easy to find solace from the heat in pastels prints and short shorts.
When it comes to summer, its easiest to go back to the basics and just go with your instincts . When I think of summer style, I instinctively think of denim cut offs & indigo and of course light, easy pastels. For this post I’ve teamed up with Lifestyle Stores and styled two looks- Indigo Instinct: pairing classic blue with tan accessories; and light, bright pastels for Pastel Instinct.
The collection at Lifestyle was incredible, and I especially loved all their accessories. It was love at first sight when I spotted the silver coin tribal necklace styled in Indigo Instinct and the white dress (worn as a cape) styled in Pastel Instinct. And here’s the best part- I’m teaming up with them to make sure you also get the best of summer style 😀 Head to my instagram to win gift vouchers worth INR 3000!
Let me know what you think of the looks in a comment below And a big thank you to Gurpreet for taking these pictures! You HAVE to take a look at her work here
Online shopping hasn’t always been my friend. Our relationship had a tumultuous beginning and was full of ill fitting jeans, painful shoes and disappointment. Over time we grew closer to each other, but only when it came to familiar territory: when I bought from the Mangos and Forever News of the world (aka the stores where I already knew my size from my other relationship- actual physical store shopping). Every time we made some progress, one skirt from a new brand which wouldn’t quite fit would come along and ruin things. And then I realized that if I wanted this relationship to work , I had to set some reasonable expectations – the clothes would not fit me the same way they fit the model. See, it was the fit that caused all these problems. I was never quite sure how the clothes would fit my body type until i actually wore them.
Luckily Shop by Shape by Myntra is here to help resolve some of my issues ! Each and every item of clothing on their site is now tagged according to body shape- so now I can pre empt whether a piece of clothing is going to look good on me or not 😀 And it also helps you find out what kind of body type you are. What i love about the feature is that it takes the focus of clothing off of ‘size’ per se and focuses on our body shape instead.
I foresee my relationship with online shopping greatly improving in the near future 😀 try out the feature on the Myntra app pronto!
Many a heart flutter at the sight of a lethal five inch stiletto or the most exquisitely shaped pointed leopard print flats. I know the feeling all too well. My heart too skips a beat at the thought of patent leather oxfords and suede platform peep toes.
It really is a wonder how shoes have become objects of desire and maybe even mild obsessions for women (and men) all over the world- transcending language, country, age and really any other demographic that one can thing of.
But why is it that we all love shoes? One of the reasons I love a beautiful pair of shoes is that they always fit- after a stressful week full of binge eating or a month of just being plain lazy. If I’m having a ‘I look like a pumpkin today’ day, I know I can always reach for my trusty black heels and *poof* I don’t feel like a pumpkin anymore. It’s magic really. Shoes always make me look better, or make me think that I look better. ALWAYS.
So it’s no surprise that when the most adorable shoe store got in touch with me to collaborate I didn’t much time to think about it. Smitten is a brand that young women in Bangalore are all too familiar with- Smitten’s been a part of countless exhibitions and bazaars in the city for a few years now. But they’ve only just recently opened a brand new retail store in Indiranagar, much to the delight of female shoes lovers all over the city. Located in Indiranagar, off 100 ft road, Smitten’s new store has cute little french accents and an endless supply of chocolate (How can one not fall in love with a place that always stocks chocolate? )
Sakshi and Aneesha, the dynamic duo behind the brand describe Smitten as being synonymous with chic, trendy and high street fashion available at affordable prices. I spent a leisurely Friday morning there, trying on gorgeous gold open toe sandals and floral print pumps, but finally settled on a pair of magnificent buckled boots. They also have a range of accessories- statement necklaces, scarved and belts on display at the store. And with everything within the range of INR 1500- INR 2800, their stuff is also easy on the pocket!
What I love about their collection is how they have a mix of classic styles and the designs that are in season now, I’m always a little partial to the classics that will never go out of style, as you can see from my choices at Smitten. It truly was a morning well spent <3
