All Black and Pink

When I’m feeling a bit lazy, I always find it easy to go with an all-black outfit and add one or two statement pieces to complete it.

Last Saturday I was probably at my laziest and wanted something comfortable yet stylish.
So I went with a a black top, my favourite pair of black shorts, and a light pink jacket.
Black top- Zara ; Black Shorts- G2000

The jacket is a favourite from Promod. The transparent sequins add a little bit of shine without being over the top.

My accessories were also all black.
Necklace- Forever 21
A simple, plain black clutch is a wardrobe essential. You can find similar ones here from Accessorize, Guess and Aldo
Clutch- Calvin Klein

Bow Heels- Forever New

These bow heels from Forever New have a lot of support, so it is relatively easier to last all night in these than any other four inch heels.

Gowri Puja

Happy Ganesha Charturthi everyone!

Gowri Puja, which was yesterday ( to know more about the festival, read here ) is usually a big deal in my house, and has been for decades!

I love all the rituals associates with the festival- decorating coconuts, cleaning the house, and of course cooking and eating lots of good food.

For Gowri Puja this year I wanted to wear something Indian but felt like mixing it up a little.

I went with a cotton skirt, a plain black tee and a dupatta.

The skirt is by Bangalore based designers Mona and Neelam.

The dupatta is my mother’s and is from Westside.

I matched this with a pair of silver jhumkas which I received as a gift from my family on my 20th birthday

I kept the accessories simple with a watch and an assortment of  bangles from Goa and Commercial street.

Best of Lakme Fashion Week

Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive was all of last week, and was a showcase of some exquisite art.
Here is what I thought was the best of fashion week.
Also, all images are property of Lakme Fashion Week, I do not own any of these images.
Enjoy :)

And finally, after a long hiatus from Lakme Fashion Week, Sabyasachi returned with a royal bang!

His collection, inspired by regality, was the Grande Finale at the extravaganza.

This velvet and sequined saree is probably my favourite from all the designs at Lakme Fashion Week.

Green Eggs and Ham

Coloured denim has been all the rage for quite a while, but I was late to pick up on the trend.

My first (and as of now, only) pair of coloured denims is this pair of green jeans from Vero Moda.
When I saw them, all I could think of was ,one of my favourite Dr. Seuss books- Green Eggs and Ham!
(If you’re wondering why, you can see the cover of the book here)

Green Jeans- Vero Moda

I’m wearing the jeans with a lace panelled top, a studded chain bag, a leopard print necklace, a studded belt and black loafers.

Lace Top- Forever 21
Studded Chain Bag- Forever New
Studded Belt- Hill Road, Bombay
Leopard Print Necklace- Colaba Causeway, Bombay

The belt and necklace were both amazing finds while street shopping in Bombay. And the black loafers were also a steal at Bata.

Next on the list- Red Jeans!

Rainy Day Out

I took the day off  from work and spent the day with a very close friend of mine. We started the afternoon with a dance show at the Alliance Francaise.  We went to watch the incredibly talented Tarantismo Creative Dance Company ( Check them out here ) take part in the Short and Sweet dance competition.

White Shirt- Zara ,  Oxblood Pants – Tibetan Plaza

These oxblood pants are from Tibetan Plaza and were a steal at Rs 800. I love the gold zip detailing, and the fit is great.

Gold Hoop Earrings – Aldo Accessories

Watch- Fossil, Bag- Forever New

Gold Bow Flats- Forever 21

The afternoon was then followed by an evening of spiked nachos and Mangas at Monkey Bar.

The weather was lovely and the company, even better.

The perfect day off  :)

Monsoon Sale

July usually means two things –  4 o clock showers in Bangalore, and Sales!
I had mentioned Cupidity once before in my post on online shopping and  I find their collections extremely stylish.
So when I found this Gold Glitter Sling on sale, at almost 50% off, I jumped at the offer!

Although I usually reserve anything high on bling for the night, this could be styled with a coral maxi skirt and a white cropped top for a Sunday afternoon brunch.

Wishlist – Leather Jacket!

Although the weather never really calls for it, I’ve wanted a leather ( faux- leather) jacket for a while.
Maybe coz it always looks so bad-ass. Or because the one look I don’t think I could ever pull off is the ‘Biker Chick’.
Anyway…..I’ve put three looks together to make anyone look good in a leather jacket…

Peplum Love : Part 3

For my last ‘Peplum Love’ post I went for a colour combination that has always been a favourite, and one that you can’t go wrong with-   Black, White and Red.

Although the rain and weather in Bangalore hasn’t been suede-friendly, I couldn’t resist pairing these red shoes with my black peplum top and cream lace skirt.
The skirt and gold cuff are from Forever 21. Whenever I have family coming to visit from the States, I usually order stuff online and ask them to carry it with them. For those of you who love a good bargain, Forever 21 ALWAYS has amazing deals and is far more affordable than a lot of stores in Bangalore.

Red Suede Heels : Zara

Gold Cuff : Forever 21

Pelum Love : Part 2

Time for some more peplum loving!

I LOVE dressing up for a Saturday night- even it is for a place like Monkey Bar.

This next outfit features two of the pieces I mentioned in my wardrobe essentials- Nude Pumps and the Lace Peplum top (something girly)

I wore this on a relaxed Saturday night at Monkey Bar with a couple of friends from college. Was I overdressed? Yes. But three Mangas later I honestly didn’t care.

The peplum top was bought on sale at Forever New. I love the sales there, but I never find my size. So I found this in a size bigger, and altered it at home.

My favorite part is the back of the top with the lace bodice.

Nude Pumps: Aldo
Quilted Bag : Mango ; Gold Watch : Michael Kors (c/o my sister)

Ring : Forever 21; Earrings : Forever New

Peplum Love : Part 1

One of my favourite silhouettes is the peplum. I fell in love with it when my mother bought me a black peplum blouse from Benetton three years ago, before I knew what the peplum even was! I have quite a few  pieces in this style, and so we’re going to have a week full of peplum- three outfits, all featuring the peplum!

Peplum Dress- Zara; Shoes : Zara, Necklace :  Forever New;  Watch : Fossil;  Knot Clutch : Bottega  Veneta

This dress is extremely flattering and is versatile. It can be worn on a night out, or for an elegant brunch.

A dress of a similar style can be found here.  http:/bit.ly/ZmPpzV

At 6 inches, the Zara heels are the highest I own, but the platform in the front makes sure your feet don’t hurt as much as you’d think.
The shocking pink Knot Clutch adds a pop of colour to the outfit.

Since the dress is very simple, the accessories make the entire look come alive!

Lots more peplum love coming up… Stay tuned !
